Whr24U Programme Outline

The Whr24U programme is tailored to the specific needs of each student utilising our services. We work alongside the students in an effort to assist them in identifying suitable career options.

The programme, which usually takes two weeks not including ongoing support and follow up, consists of a step by step process where we guide the student through a very important time of decision making.

One-on-One Interview

Through one-on-one interviewing, we learn about the student as an individual. We gain an understanding of their personality, strengths, weaknesses, interests, values and motivations from their perspective.

Psychometric Testing

The next step is to complete psychometric testing (for full details on the testing used, please see the tab on Psychometric Testing from the “Our Services” drop down menu). We believe that psychometric testing is an invaluable tool in putting science behind career direction. From personality and interests assessments, we get to know the student as an individual. These findings are supported by the one-on-one interviews. We use a general reasoning test to gauge the student’s level of ability - we don’t take grades into account because we know that school doesn’t suit everyone. From the psychometric testing, we identify areas of career interest for each student. To reach this stage in the process may seem like a good result in itself, but narrowing your options down from every possibility to two or three specific areas is just the beginning.

Action Planning

The next step is to create an Action Plan and set attainable goals for the student so they know exactly where they are going and how they are going to get there. Parents and Guardians can be involved at this stage and are more than welcome to be included in the process.

Follow Up

Once goals have been set, we follow up with the student after 24 hours, one week, one month and three months to ensure that the student is moving on track with their plans and goals. We encourage the student to research alternative routes to their desired career destination and we help them through that process.

Work Experience

Once the student has decided on the path they will take after school, we assist with finding work experience and job shadowing placements for the students so they can see first-hand what their future could look like.

Our commitment to the students who go through our programme is that we will utilize our expertise to assist them in finding the path that is right for them. We work alongside them, offering support and guidance, we make ourselves available to answer questions and we make them accountable for taking control of their future. We believe passionately in the value of investing in the future of our young adults and the future of New Zealand’s workforce.
